Arrive in Seward at your leisure and settle into your artfully-curated and unique A-frame cabin, complete with a full kitchen, wet room, and loft. Wander down to the water’s edge for views of Mt. Alice dressed in alpenglow before tucking in for a good night’s sleep. In the morning, meet your Seward Wilderness Collective guide at 8:30 am to catch a private water taxi out to the Alpine Trail, scouting for porpoises, seals, and otters on the ride south. A day of epic hiking follows, as you venture through moss-covered spruce forests and above alder-fringed meadows to the high alpine zone for unparalleled views of Resurrection Bay and the Resurrection Peninsula. Learn through stories of the changes we’re witnessing here and how we can look for them on our hike.
A return trip on the water taxi will have you back in town just in time for a refreshing beer at the Seward Alehouse where you’ll rub elbows with locals, guides, and other visitors. Just a block away, treat yourself to a fresh, creative, Alaska-sourced meal at The Cookery (don’t hesitate to top it off with the homemade cream-cheese ice cream with bacon and balsamic – we won’t tell). You’ll be ready to turn in at your cozy cabin and listen to the waves lapping Lowell Point.
In the morning, stroll just minutes to the beach where you’ll meet your Kayak Adventures guide for a Private Half Day Resurrection Bay Kayaking Tour for a completely different perspective on the fjord. Paddling the calm morning water along protected coastal rainforest both relaxes and rejuvenates, providing both a sense of peace and accomplishment. After two days discovering the hidden gems and top locals’ picks in Seward, you’ll be brimming with a new understanding of this place, inspired by the connections you’ve made with small Alaskan-owned businesses, and empowered to care for the world around you.
Creative and innovative, Seward friends Matt and KellyAnn have created our dream lodging – purposefully-crafted, boutique A-frame cabins that accommodate groups of up to 6 people each. Learn more at Salted Roots.
